An October night in Rose Red
It's Friday, the 13th of October (opposite to 31st of October known as Holloween, All Hallows Eve, Samhain, and so on). It's midnight and it's a very cold and dark night. Frank is walking desoriented towards a bridge. He doesn't really know why, but he's on the bridge now. He's confused...and after 13 minutes on that bridge, he hears somone approaching. He startled a little, but tryied not to show it.
The steps come nearer. He's a little more frightened, but takes a deep breath and turns to look. That someone pretends to stop. He's able to see the stranger. Frank analyses the stranger and realises that it's a woman, a beautiful woman. She has a greatfigure and nice forms, long black hair, cold dark eyes, dressed in a black leather suit, high heeled boots. Frank analyses her thoroughly, and even though her eyes looked cold, there was something about her that made Frank not that scared anymore. After 13 seconds of looking at eachother, she said with a sensual voice:
"Hello Frank!" then she looks up at the sky and adds: "Isn't it a magnifficent night? Look at the stars...they're twinkling so bright, and the moon...the moon is full tonight, have you noticed how beautiful she is?... (she changes her tone of voice) but never mind the moonn and stars now, we're here for some business, aren't we?"
Frank stunned: "Business? What business? I'm sorry, but you have me confused with someone else."
"Oh no my dear, I'm not. Frank, listen up. Here's the deal: I need some infomation from you. It's a matter of life and death".
Frank suspicious: "Information? about what? I'm not sure I follow you...what do you want from me? "
"I need to know where's your brother and his friends' hideaway".
"My brother? What's my brother have to do with all this? Isn't he in prison?"
"Well Frank, he's not anymore...he escaped a week ago, and along with his friends kidnapped my sister Annie, for $13,000,000. We received a call today and they're asking for the money to release her....or so they're saying...You have to help me. I can't let anything bad happen to her. She's all I have left...."
"Ok. I'll help you. As far as I remember, their hideaway was in this huge house called Rose Red, build in an immense old pinetree forrest, in which is very hard to enter...you can hardly get there with your mind....a place where is most probable to lose your soul".
"Never mind how we get there, it doesn't matter what the consequences are...the important thing is to get her out of there unharmed".
"Then let's go, NOW, untill it's too late. Follow me"
Frank and the stranger jump on her silver Suzuki Hayabuza and run off to the woods to rescue Annie. On their way to the woods, Frank tells the stranger:
"I forgot to tell you one more thing. Rose Red it's only a dead pit - but I don't believe it - a house where the men commit suicide or die in some weird, strange and unknown circumstances, and the women disappear in the same strange way. So let's be carefull. But wait...this is only the beggining...as far as the story goes, this is no ordinary house. You know how they say that there are some houses that can only be built if a man is built in the foundation???...well this house is built only from dead people".
Time passed so fast, that they haven't realised that the terrifying house, which begun to wake up to life, was already showing. When they got in front of the front gates, amazingly huge gates i may add, tryied to open them...but nothing. Suddenly from the darkness that surrounded them, all the lights in the house lighted up, which made them more suspicious.
They jump over the wall and start to walk the alley leading towards the house...on both sides of the alley there were a lot of strange statuettes, in different shapes and forms....built and placed in such a way that gives the impression that they're watching your every move.... but in this case, they really were.
Surrounded by all these statuettes and their eyes....really made their blood boil...
As they arrive in front of the house, the front door opens very "welcoming"... In front of the door, Frank asks her: "Phoebe, are you affraid?"
"No! but how do you know my name?"
"Why are you lying to me? Just once in your life be honest, because it's possible not to make it alive. I can read it inn your eyes, very clearly, that you're affraid, not only to get inside the house, but also affraid of death."
"Never mind these stupid things, let's find Annie".
Frank could read minds and had premonitions. Being very cautious, ties up one end of the rope (found on Phoebe's motorbike) on the banister, and goes to the first floor; the first door that they open, brings them into the mirror room - mirrors which deformed you and brought you into another dimmension(room) - which in a few seconds transportes them into another room, without windows and doors, just 4 statuettes without a head, situated in the room's corners. there was no way out...
Frank finds this place familiar and remebers one of his visions which tortured him for a long time... in this vision, he is in this same room with the 4 statuettes, and a strange voice tells him that in order to get out of the room, he had to resolve a little puzzle. Remembering that, they manage to find the way out, being transported exactly in the room where the "hostages" were gathered, including Annie.
Ryan tells Frank: "Brother, I've been expecting you!"
Frank and Phoebe, puzzled by this, ask Ryan for some explanation. They are told the exact story of the house, details about Annie's "kidnapp" - fact which reveald their presence there: Frank who could read minds and had visions, and Phoebe who could see spirits. While they were talking, a strong current accompanied by a dazzling light, entered the room, shocking everyone. Annie walked towards the center of the light, while a voice is heard:
"Annie...Annie, come to me! You're gonna be ok...."
Annie's attention is drown away by Billy's scream, which is carried by the current in the room with no way out...the room with the 4 statuettes, where he's slashed and ripped by the statuettes which were brought to life by Annie, who had no idea about the powers she possesed inside Rose Red.
Everyone in the house had the victims' qualities (powers), the most important victims in Rose Red's past....were telepaths.
After a short while, 2 of them are pulled up to the ceiling by a supernatural force, opening something like a stellary gate through the ceiling, pulling them through it, then it closes. After a little while it opens again, and two still beating hearts fell down.
Terrifyied by this, they try to run, being forced to go through the mirror room. Frank passed first through the mirror room, while the others were arguing what to do. He yells at them to get out of there because in 13 seconds the mirrors will teleport them, but he doesn't even finish the sentence and the doors and windows are closing again, and in about 3 seconds, screams of excruciating pain and knocking are heard, and a vision of what was happening inside that room appeared to Frank: those remained there were brutally killed by spikes of ice which were falling from the ceiling...
Once Annie dies, the doors and windows are opening, and Frank mannages to escape...runs out to a telephone booth, and calls the police...but they don't believe him:
"Son, are you in mood for jokes? Go tell them to somebody else. Listen to him...hahaha.... a house who eats people....hahahaha.....that's a good one..."
After all these, Frank withdraws into darkness, and nobody couldn't find anything about him. In this time, he wrote a book about what happened in Rose Red. After finnishing the book, he dies in unknown conditions, and the book vanished.
After 13 years, the book was found by another telepath, who also was researching Rose Red's hystory.... and so the story could go on and on, about another series of unexplained deaths and dissappearences...
